Blue as an Orange is CLOSED for submissions for the foreseeable future.
Blue as an Orange is primarily a poetry journal, but we also accept prose and visual works. We will compile all of the work we have published into yearly issues.
There is, and never will be, any fee to submit. Please give us up to three months to review your submission before querying its status. This timeframe is malleable and dependent on the number of submissions we receive, so be sure to check back here before emailing us. We try to give feedback on rejected work when we're able. Please wait until the next calendar year before submitting new work in the same field (one submission per year). You are welcome to send in multiple submissions in different areas (ex. a poetry submission and a photography submission) but please send them separately. We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your submission has been submitted elsewhere. We typically do not accept previously published work. Email us prior to submitting any work that has been published elsewhere.
We do not discriminate based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, nationality, financial status, or religious beliefs. We reserve the right to remove any work from our magazine at any time. We do not want to encourage any poor behavior or support creators who have or are actively damaging others within or outside the community. We are open to international authors writing in another language, providing there is an English translation. If English isn't your primary language please feel free to include a second bio in your primary language so that we can publish them both together.
